Today, I'm going to be talking about the myths that relate to your well known social media platforms. What kind of social media platform are you considering? Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube, etc. Are, these the kind of social media platforms you want to use for your marketing plan? Keep in mind, that your competition is already doing it.


Here Are 5 Main Social Media Marketing Myths:




Myth #1: Quality Relationships


A lot of people, that don't understand social media marketing, think that trying to establish quality relationships with your followers is a big waste of time. I'm here to tell you how wrong that is. Making a connection and trying to establish a quality relationship with your followers is the best thing you can do for your brand.  Social media platforms are the best way to get infront of your audience (followers). Make your followers aware of your brand by listening and engaging, that will help you to understand what your followers are thinking and wanting.




Myth #2: I'm The Next Guru


There are so many people out there in the wonderful world of social media, that think they are the next big success. You need to know how to campaign your brand correctly, your campaign needs to have social elements incorprated into your marketing. Meaning, advertise your brand, work towards making your brand known in blogs, forums, apps etc. etc.  Let, your brands voice be heard...



Myth #3: You Can't Measure Social Marketing


Yes you can, there are plenty of online tools that you can use. You can follow your traffic stats, comments on your brands blog or website, click-throughs etc. Or if you don't have the time to do so, you could always hire a professional in this field that can.




Myth #4: To Be Successful I Need To Be On All The Social Media Sites


Not true, just focus on a few social media platforms, that you feel is a great fit for your brand.  I have come to learn that the ones that are the most successful and choose wisely by selecting a few social media platforms. Are the ones that succeed with the greatest amount of success...




Myth #5: Social Media Tools Are Free


In a lot of cases, social media tools are free. But, if you want to merge those social media tools into your marketing plan. You need to keep in mind how much time, smarts and money it will take to accomplish all of these tasks successfully.




Overall, make sure if you are going to try to accomplish social media marketing on your own. You need to do your research, work towards learning different social media platforms that you feel will work for your brand. Or if not, consult with someone in the social media marketing field that can help to lead you in the right direction.
